Bayleigh Murray
Bayleigh worked at Experiment for close to one year. She is a rising sophomore at John's Hopkins University. We used appear.in to videochat.
Feedback:
- ability to highlight spelling error and provide inline commenting
- when clicking '1 section left' scroll user to next unfinished section
- 1 hour is too long for a review. Bayleigh says reviews take her 15-30 minutes. She is not sure what will happen when the time is up. "Will it log me out?"
- Specify the duration number is duration of the campaign, not the duration of the research
- Assumes that after she finishes review the review comments are emailed to the researcher. She assumes there is only one reviewer.
- The reason why she would skip a project is because it is a topic "I am uncomfortable in, physics probably"
- Missing Institution is confusing because she doesn't know if Institution is required. She is not sure if she should comment on that. Related: Team bio section.
- "I want to keep comments brief."
- "Should I suggest a version?" Is that what Experiment expects of me?
- Highlight 3rd sentence and comment on that section specifically.
- If there are many team members I can't comment on the individual section. It would be nice to be able to highlight or specify which bio I am commenting on.
Daniel Zurek
Daniel is a lapsed academic. He is currently teaching himself machine learning and data science in LA. He will participate in the Insight Data Science program in the Fall. He says there aren't any good faculty jobs in LA, so he is transitioning out of academia. LA is where his wife works and where they live. We used Skype to videochat. He says he usually uses Google Hangouts.
- There is a blurry line for what is eligible. Some projects can be improved to be structured as a research question (referring to the buy me a motorcycle project).
- Once he rejects a proposal he expects the comment to go to the applicant and the Experiment team.
- Idea: do the same userflow as Airbnb. What feedback do you have for the host? What feedback do you have for Airbnb? (honest)
